people.

Seriously, this week was great. Not what I wanted at the end, but this week has really restored my faith in people. Things didnt turn out like I wanted but I was reminded of how hard work pays off by so many people. People have encouraged me, and let me know not to give up...and I really appreciate that. I'm thankful for that.

Love.

I love my room. Not like, LOVE. Adore. Cherish. I know it may seem stupid to go on and on but seriously, it's big, and it's all mine and I literally had the best move in day of my entire college career yesterday. Basically, this year already looks way better than last year. I can't even describe how happy I was last night to go to bed when I wanted, turn off my lamp when I wanted, watch tv when I wanted....well you get the picture. It's already making me very happy. I wish I had a camera b/c I'd definitly upload pitures. Anyway, but yesterday came and went and I can honestly say, it was probably one of the best days with my mom too. You could tell, she was actually excited to see me so happy and started doing things like, "oh you need a dvd player? lets go get one! oh you need a (insert item I completely forgot to bring from home)" P.S. How does a college student forget to bring a PILLOW?! Anyway, so that was yesterday and after getting the best sleep, onto audition prep.

these dreams.

dreams are a funny funny thing. Last night's dream made me wake up and go, "whaaaaat?" It began with the 3rd day of school where surprise NKU decided to do "A Chorus Line" (I have no idea why bc NKU did that like 4 years ago)...and a bunch of the freshmen were cast and I got the understudy for Maggie? WTF? 1. I will never be a good enough dancer to be in A Chorus Line and 2. How did my friend Monica get cast in a role that actually does not exist in the show? Weird. The whole dream ended in our first dance rehearsal and hearing mark yell, "Megan! Stretch! Leg above your head! Leg above your head!" (which does NOT happen!)
bahaha...weird, but HIGHLY entertaining.

Rare Gem

Good good day. After a morning at the gym (now I'm lifting 70 lbs in the weight room thank you very much!) I hung out with Sara all day. We watched "Red Eye" (scary) and "High School Musical 3" haha and loved it, can you believe it?

Life is a funny funny thing. I was thinking about that on my drive home with my new regina spektor cd blaring (thank you sara for some free music!), I got to thinking, things really are meant to be. Who would have thought that little blonde girl I met in the 5th grade would turn out to be one of my best friends for the next 11 years? Sara is one of those rare friends of mine that I can literally be away from for 6 months, come back, plop on her couch for a few hours and it's as if we've never been apart. And that's a rare gem in my world. And basically we can discuss anything (which we discovered today lol). It's nice to have friends who never judge, never condemn, who remember your 6th grade middle school schedule and that time in 8th grade when you fell in the middle of the hallway....and the time your parents got divorced or that time you had your heart broken. I never have to revisit a single story, and that's nice. So...lesson of the day/thought for anyone who reads this (if anyone), call your oldest dearest friend and thank them for being that constant presence in your life. :)

many the miles--and only a week til I go back to school!

A Thought for Those Who are as Passionate as Me.

BAH. what is the deal? the last 2 days have just been...disappointing. Today was ruined by some comments made to me about my major at school after 10 AM...NEWSFLASH: do NOT discuss such things with me if you are misinformed about such things. I dont tell you how to run your business...dont tell me about jobs in the theatre. So that was frustrating.

I was furious in my megan way for about an hour when I came home...I'm a deep feeler. I know that sounds ridiculous but I just read a blog by a friend that admits the same thing...when I feel something, I FEEL it. When I'm sad, the tear ducts flood, when I'm angry watch out, excited? you'll be able to tell. Sometimes it's a blessing and a curse. But what I most hate is when me, my being, what I contribute to the world is brought under fire. And that's no good. I would rather hear this from someone who has known me for 5 seconds, not 21 years.

Thankfully my mom calmed me down, as did my little sister who is about to embark on the same profession. There is more to theatre than just Broadway. There's sooo many jobs, tours, children's theatre, internships, etc. that exist in the world, and at this point, most jobs are not safe. I refuse to be in a profession that I hate. I went to a school that I came to despise...Boyce. I loved a majority of the people but I distinctly remember the countless nights of sitting on my dorm bed at Boyce sobbing...I didnt know what I wanted, I was confused, and what's more is that absolutely NOTHING sparred this; no fight with anyone, no upset. I talked with my friend meagan rampley for hours...and finally one night, I just stopped crying, looked at her through my tear-brimmed eyes and said, "I have to go study theatre, i HAVE to" And she smiled, hugged me and said, "I knew you were going to say that". Everyone that was close to me understood that and patted my back saying, "good for you, for hearing that call now"...but there were others. Others who looked at me differently, that said things like, "You're only going to do CHRISTIAN theatre...right?" And I had to deal with them. They were mostly at church but dont think I didnt notice. When I did that show at UofL with a scene in my bra and panties, I knew what they were thinking, why would/could I do such a thing? But that is me and that is them. And ultimately, when I'm 30, I'll wake up every morning and do something. Whether that be a survival job or a theatre job, who knows? But I do know this. Some people are called to be ministers, some teachers, some entertainers. I may not make it to Broadway, but my life will be just as fufilling being an acting coach in Chicago/NewYork, or working for a theatre. And at the end of the day--that is my life.

mood

UGH, bad mood today. I got up early, went to the gym, did 25 min on the treadmill, a mile on the track and the weight room. Then voice lesson, which for some reason has been a struggle. I know my teacher does all this to make me better but not getting to sing all summer took a toll--I'm a singer dammit, not a dancer and it's frustrating to do a show and....well, there's more to say to that.

My sister got her first car, but I've been in a mood and just want to go home and breathe. One thing about me is that when I'm done, I'm DONE. Translation: when I want to go home, I really really really want to go home. And I hate not driving myself b/c of this. Sooo yea. It's just frustrating when absolutely nothing will make you happy. grrrrrrr

Rain Rain Go Away.

Rain Rain go away...after waking up to a monsoon aka the flood that left most of Louisville indoors, so begins my first day semi-off the couch?

After staying up way too late last night chatting on facebook (as usual), and getting ridiculously frustrated with some of my professors for this school year; someone explain this to me, WHY cant you submit your textbooks needed for this semester so I can save myself some money and get them online? It's really just one professor b/c the other ones have been gracious enough to email me back. But seriously, it gets frustrating. BUT I am very excited to live in the suites this year--not in the nursing hom dorm I lived in this past year, for anyone that knows me well knows that the building was not the only....ok, nuf' said.

I've gotten some very cute posters and decorative dorm stuff for this year b/c after three years i finally get my own little room! sooo excited to get up when I want and go to bed when I want, plus it's going to be so nice to have alone time when I want it. ALSO, I get to decorate how I want...anyway, videos are up of "Guys and Dolls" on facebook, all the hot box girl numbers are up and I was shockingly surprised with how uniform we all look together-yay.

Apparently Louisville is on a flood watch and my car wont be ready til Thursday. I originally had an audition planned but with my wisdom teeth taking a toll on my voice and my face that's looking like a negative. BUT I finally get to take off the duct tape on my car and will have a new fender! yes! Although, I feel like the duct tape gave it some character.

oh well

day three.

So....day three of the couch. Today was probably the worst of it, my painkillers/antibiotics made me sick, and by sick I mean calling Ralph at 10:00 this morning while the rest of the family was at church. I'll never be able to look at Jello the same way again (ew). Other than that I've been sitting on the couch feeding my addiction to "brothers and sisters" dvds. Finally I managed to eat some watermelon (who would have thought THAT would settle my stomach?) and pass out for a few hours I woke up apparently looking (as my mother said) more like a "baby chipmunk" lol I just want to look normal again, my family teases me b/c I wear my brown bathing suit coverup around the house to lounge around in. What can I say? It's comfy. Only three weeks til I go back to school so basically I have all my audition material, I just need to memorize and prep. Is it sad that I really really just want to look/feel normal so I can go to the gym again? Oh, and so I can ya know, LOOK NORMAL again.

TO DO (before school):
1. Headshots/resumes (5) -walgreens? meijer/walmart?
2. Get smell good fragrance for room
3. shoes (black ballet flats)
4. over the door mirror/curtains from target

There's other things to do but that's the gist of it.
Many the miles...and hopefully I'll get to get off this couch tommorow!

like a chipmunk.

How can 4 little teeth cause this much misery? I had my wisdom teeth out (all four!) yesterday. Apparently I'm one of the last to get this done according to my friends...it only took about 40 minutes but WOW was I gone on the anethesiac. So now I look like a chipmunk and all I can do is lay on the couch in my brown coverup and watch TV and eat icecream or yogurt or soup. AND it's driving me nuts! I made myself do 50 mini arm-weight sessions yesterday and today b/c I can't go to the gym, but yea. Lots of percoset and painkillers which actually made me sick last night (note: projectile ice cream and apple juice are dreadful to see)

BUT besides looking like a cartoon character, I once again proved myself right--I DO look like I'm 16. The receptionist at the oral surgeon's office thought I wasn't even 18 and made my mom fill out all the paperwork and then was like, "Wait, YOU're 21? Oh, I'm sorry you look so young!" haHA. greeeeeaaaat. So school starts again in about three weeks which basically means I need to work audition material. I'm not stressed about it...yet.

more later.
many the miles (although right now it's just the couch)
