Fall Break

oh Fall break, how I love thee!
Anyways, after some craziness, I am HOME...with great news! I got passed by the faculty to KTA screenings, and get to play a great role in Kincaid Regional's Christmas show! I was initially surprised by the latter, I was just sitting on the couch with my mom after a very long exhausting day only to find an email from Shirley. I'm pretty excited, one of the songs (it's a duet) is absolutely gorgeous. Anyway--first rehearsal/readthru on Friday so I'm pretty excited to see who else is in it. AND only 2 days of school this week! YESSSSSSSSS. Monday and Tuesday were off for Fall Break and then no theatre classes on Wednesday due to a theatre faculty retreat so only Thursday and Friday classes--what a great break!

Hold Close.

So, Friday finally! Chemo starts today for someone I'm close to. Due to privacy, not going to say who it is, but yea. I've just recently come to realize how intensely fragile life is. Things were fine a month ago, and all of a sudden things weren't. I know that seems simple, but seriously, I think we all take things way too much for granted. Who knows if you'll see that friend tommorow that you had a fight with today? Nothing is garanteed anymore. So, to quote a ridiculously cheesy hallmark card i read a few weeks ago, "Hold close those you love".

Audition Story

So it occured to me last night that I have yet to write about my audition story from about 2 weeks ago. Let me set it up for you, I went downtown to Over-the-Rhine Cincinnati (rough place, apparently; been named the #1 crime spot in America apparently) to audition for a show. Didnt think too much of it, went in, sang 2 16 bar cuts and was asked to stay for the dance call...at 3. It was about 12:30. So I made my way to the cute coffee shop down the street, in my audition dress/heels that hurt. As I was walking, I began to notice how rough it looked around me. Kinda freaked me out a little. Anyway, so I'm walking and all of a sudden I see a...rough looking woman with the tallest heels imaginable crossing the street walking right toward me. She just looked at me funny and I started freaking out thinking, "why is she coming over to me? Is she going to mug me? Dear God, dont let her mug me, oh shi--" She gets about 2 inches to my face, looks at me and says gruffly...."I like your dress"
WHEW.

Good Things.

Rather than try to rehash on everything I haven't written about in the last few weeks, I'll just share some things that've made me happy:

-Wynonna Judd music (i forget about her from time to time but I adore her voice)
-the Torkelsons--it's on YOUTUBE! I used to watch it all the time when I was younger and I recently rediscovered it, I WISH the theme song was a real song so I could get the sheet music, I adore it.
-road trip to columbus to see "Paranormal Activity"--ok, so the movie has terrified me and I can't sleep (lol) but the whole experience was fun, so well-worth being scared.
-beautiful fall weather...bringing out the scarves!
-the wonderfully encouraging people in my life that I've talked to recently that have been constantly reminding me to focus on the good (sara, lisa, monica, robert, jeanine, mel jonesy)
-Kristen chenoweth on Glee...dear GOD, she's incredible.

so there ya go.
