Weekend of FUN.

So...this past week was lazy and fun--we only had 3 days of school so it flew by super-fast!
We did 2 full runs of "Angels" --they seemed to go pretty well...I cant believe we open in a week!
Anyway--so...I figure I'm going to just direct everyone to Facebook to read my note about my very "special" Friday night. Needless to say, I will never ever ever take one of my roommates anywhere EVER again. All I'm gonna say on this blog is....2 HOURS. 2 HOURS.

But Saturday made up for the sucky Friday. Saturday I pretty much stayed in my pjs til 2 pm....which was wonderful b/c I cannot remember the last time I did that! Trent came by my apartment and asked if I wanted to help him find a costume for the costume/Halloween party he was going to that night. We ended up going to the Florence mall...buying clothes that were not part of the costume but oh well...it was fun. We went to Charlotte Russe and I got 2 very cute tops...yay for shopping. After that, we had the urge to go to Barnes and Nobles and check out the theatre section like good little theatre majors...and speak in our best cockney british accents the whole time....anyway, so we decided that since that Barnes and Nobles had pretty much nothing, we really wanted to go to the Newport B & N on the Levy...and we did. It is 2 stories and has everything! It was amazing! Trent got a bunch of new movies and I browsed around like a happy kid. Then we went to Michaels and Hobby Lobby...where Trent got his costume to be...SUPER QUEER. He had pink tights, tutu, flowery headband...it was pretty hilarious. I definitly had a video and 2 pics to put up. Then we had dinner at Panera (YUM) and went back to campus.
My friend Chris who does drag invited me to go with him to a club to support one of our other friends (with another one of our friends too) and so I showered and got ready for that. Our friend from Acting1 (Drew) was making his drag queen debut performance and we went to watch the show--which was by far one of the funniest things I have ever seen! Chris was in his outfit, and he kept flipping his hair--it was great! The hostess of the night kept picking on this poor straight guy in front of us with his girlfriend...Matilda. I seriously thought she was gonna cry at one point lol Drew was fabulous and we had a good time. I think he really liked it that we came...we even saw one of our teachers that came out to support him!--AWKWARD. So yea. Lauren and I stuck by Chris the whole time we were there--I was so nervous that the hostess was going to come over and pick on us b/c we're straight! (she was doing that to all the straight people in the audience). So...fun times!

After that we went by one of the theatre parties only to find that they were all sitting in the dark b/c they thought they heard the cops--so we left quickly (considering we had been there for 2 minutes we were not about to stick around to find out if the cops were actually around!). Eventually we went back to campus and I went to sleep.

So yea. I had a blast.

Today is completely devoted to "Angels"--I am completely memorized and everything (for about a week now!), but I'm looking over the notes we got on Thursday and really re-working the stuff I got notes on. I want to do really well in this---it's my first thing at NKU, and I am so happy I get to play this part. So anyway....aside from "Angels", I think I'm getting a little sick. Not gonna lie, I'm not feeling the greatest, but I know what to do--i have to not drink any tea right now--which is HARD b/c that's all I have right now! But I cannot get sick this close to the show's run, so I'm saying NO to one of my favorite things in the world...tea.

We have tech tonight! YAY!

Fall Break...

So it's been...a while since the last post.
Kaitlyn still says she has nothing to post about, but oh well...(I'm gonna make her post something when "Parade" starts up)

Anyway--my burn is better, it's almost completely healed...which means I get to suffer in ballet again lol
The Friday before fall break I had 3 midterms back to back (within 10 minutes of each other) and then a 5 hour rehearsal...I was pretty beat. So...yay for Fall Break and getting to sleep!

Fall Break was today and yesterday in addition to the weekend--I went home. It was good, I got to work on lines (I'm completely off-book!!! YAY!!!)and relax (well, not so much). Me and KP had "Hot Tea Monday" on Monday during her break between classes and I got to babysit 2 very adorable kids. Today I did laundry, watched some TV, and finished my paper due on Wednesday--I seriously do not understand professors that give homework over fall break, that's just plain MEAN. But I did get to see my family and watch some "Friends" with my mom...so it was all good.

Anyway--not much to report: "Angels in America" is going great--we open in 2 weeks. Cant wait and am nervous at the same time.
And now onto an entirely different subject:
For all of my good friends that read this, cross your fingers for me. I cant say what it's about yet, but cross those fingers and send good thoughts. Hopefully I'll get to write about what you're crossing your fingers for very soon.

And on yet another different note:
I had pizza tonight (for the first time in a while) and it definitly did not settle very well. I'm not feeling so good. yuck.

Oh yea, and "Pushing Daisies" is an amazing show. Yay for watching shows online!

my hairdryer and the ER

so this week has been interesting...to say the least.

On friday night, i went to a few parties and came back to my dorm room, i was really sleepy and tired and decided to shower. I then blow-dryed my hair. i was so tired that i set my blowdryer next to my leg and forgot about it and fell asleep.

When I woke up the next morning i had a huge nasty red blister on my shin--it looked awful and stung a little but i didnt think much of it, just a "wow that was stupid of me" thing.

On Saturday, it started getting puss coming from it.
On Sunday, a cherry-red ring started to form around the area that had now turned into a blister-hole that was now bright red with white stuff.
Today, it started to HURT. The cherry-red color had deepened and it stung more than ever. It was so infected.
I finally called my mom who had me call the 24/7 insurance-provided nurse hotline. I spoke with the nurse for a little while who was sooo nice and told me that it was possible i had either a very severe 2nd degree burn or a possible 3rd degree burn. She told me to go to the ER immediately.
I started bawling. My shin was killing me and it was looking worse and worse. The lady on the phone kept comforting me being like, "megan, it's going to be okay--please go to the ER, they'll make it better". I felt about 4 years old, especially when i called my mom and said, "Mommy I wish you were here".
My friend Ruth went with me to the ER while I freaked out. I hate hospitals and I hate gross stuff. This was definitly a mixture of the 2.
The nurses at the hospital couldnt believe a hairdryer could have caused what looked like I had stabbed myself with a curling iron or something--they were very nice though. Finally, the dr. came back (he was sooo weird) and told me it was a severe 2nd degree burn and that he was giving me antibiotics and pain-killers and that I should see my family doctor in a few days. He cleaned some of it out. I made sure to mention that ballet class the next morning would be an issue seeing as this was on my shin and i was in pain. They put a ton of medicine on it and a huge ace bandage and gave me a few perscriptions and then told me to keep it elevated for a while. AND...they put on the form that I shouldnt go to ballet the next morning--go ER nurses/doctors!
So yea. Now I have a big ace bandage on my leg I'm supposed to put stuff on like 3 times a day, I get to go to Kroger tommorow and fill like 2 perscriptions for pain and for me to heal, and on top of that, IT HURTS.
And all b/c of my damn hairdryer.

geez.

here's a little pic to show you what a 2nd degree burn looks like medically from the inside.
