Missing

I've found myself missing a lot these past few days--missing my grandma...missing people I haven't seen in a while...missing things.

There is plenty of good in my life right now...but still, for right now, I feel like I'm allowed to miss each and every one of these things.

I typically keep my blog a positive place, but for right now, it's ok just to let it out;

I miss going to falmouth with robert and acting completely ridiculous and complaining the entire time.
I miss warm weather....(but it's coming back soon!)
I miss journaling and staying up all night and not having anywhere to be the following morning
I miss being a nomad and living at different people's apartments before my living arrangement began and feeling like a real "actor" b/c of it
I miss playing/singing Coal Miner's Daughter before an audience
I miss having the time to work out every single day
I miss laying around in my brown coverup and attempting to tan...
I miss shopping with my gram and listening to her laugh.

Clearly, one of these things is a bigger thing on the grand scale of things.

But for now, that is all.

Sometimes we just need to admit it.

Time Flies...

Where did the weekend go?

Too much to do, too little time.

Rehearsals have started so there is lines to memorize, a dialect to work on, and tons of homework to get done.

On a positive note, a friend of mine introduced me to Angels and Airwaves...and I'm obsessed with the song "Adventure".

Also, Regina Spektor's "Folding Chair"

Jesus take the snowplow....again?

I cannot believe I'm going to say this.

I am sick of snow days.

Seriously, yesterday was great b/c I didnt have my math test and a delay today was great b/c it meant no pop culture test....but all day? The thing is, if I wasn't have supposed to start rehearsals for "Top Girls" yesterday, I probably wouldn't care but I really really just want to get back in the swing of things.

Snow Day movies/tv I've watched:
"Princess and the Frog"
"The Blind Side"
"Twilight: New Moon"
"The Karen Carpenter Story"
"Glee"
"The Hills"

....any other suggestions?

Jesus take the...snowplow?

WOW.
WOW.
WOW.
Have you looked outside?
It's like a blizzard!

So my day began with a text (at 5 AM) from my friend robert, "heeyyyy no math class! yay!"
then another text...."NKU is closed today!"
THEN a phone call, "this is norse alert...northern kentucky university is closed for the day"

at that point, I just rolled over and went to sleep.
I used to really love snow but now it's just interfering with my life...on a positive note...my math test has been pushed back 2 days!

all we can do is keep breathing....all we can do is keep breathing....

*Hangs head*
Ever do something or say something really stupid and just feel like you've hurt a good friendship?

I hate that. It's time like these that remind me that we are only just human and humans can act ridiculous and like they don't have a brain in their body. It's a sad truth, and unfortunately, no one is perfect.

But it still just makes me hang my head....

But today is a new day....thank god.

happy birthday to one of my favorites :)

A note of friendship...
Well, on Sunday, not only is it Valentine's Day...but it's also one of my roommates, Monica's, birthday. So..instead of my regular blog...this blog post is to talk about all of the wonderful things that I love about one of my favorite people at school

So Monica, this is for you!

M: Musical, not only were you my absolute favorite person in Titanic, you also can belt like crazy and dance waaaay better than most of us. You're going to be fabulous in Wedding Singer and I can't wait to see it

O: Original, there is no one else like you, and I'm really thankful that I have someone like you in my life :)

*Ok, so basically, I CANNOT figure out adjectives that are good enough to add to this list so I will just write you the rest...lol

Who would have thought that the sweet ginger freshmen who had a voice lesson before mine would turn out to be one of my best friends? :)
Monica, even though people frustrate you, and irritate you, I just want you to know that I really love being friends and roommates with you and I think you are a beautiful person on the inside and out. From being silly hot box dancers to going to crossroads with you to being completely ridiculous in our suite, I am so thankful that you are in my life.

And you can tell anyone who doesn't act the same way...to suck it. :)

Love you lots and you WILL have a good birthday!!

what i thought i wanted...

"Pride complicates a situation, humility will simplify it." -sara groves

I found my FAVORITE cd at the bottom of my car today...it's an interview cd. I know, I know...how embarressing. But it's an interview cd of one of my favorite songwriters, Sara Groves. Her music is honest and simple and about very real things. I remember being a senior in high school and popping that cd in my stereo and driving home from school and it calming me down and putting things in perspective.

Anyway--the quote. Sara writes a song called "Roll to the Middle" about resolution and conflict. I adore it, even though I can't relate to it because it's more so about her husband and her...BUT in the interview, she discusses her songs and why she writes them

She also has a song called "What I Thought I Wanted". I don't know about you...but if I got everything I wanted...that would be a pretty ridiculous life. That, is what I think is the hardest thing...knowing that things happen for a reason and that you might not get what you want...you'll probably look back and realize that that wasn't what you wanted. I always tell the story about how I wanted a show, or bible college, or etc etc etc. But God has a bigger idea than just what I THOUGHT i wanted...and I think it's turned out pretty well :)

I get more done before noon...

So I sang some songs at a church called Pilgrim's Chapel today in adorable Mt Adams in cincinnati...very laidback, very nice to get to do...oh and now I'll be performing on easter sunday there too! I swear, I get more things done before noon....

I really missed my gram today. I know I don't really talk about it with many people but as I was standing there before the church singing 'be thou my vision', I couldn't help but think about her. Anytime I sang, she always had the biggest, proudest smile on her face. So when I looked out over the groups of people today...I just really wanted to see her smile. I know, I know, and I don't meant to dwell on it...but because my gram was so involved in seeing my shows and places I sang, it's going to be a little hard for a while to perform and not think of her. I was, however, wearing pearls, so I'd like to think she would have been proud of that choice :)

But other than that...just a lazy sunday (except that I'm babysitting tonight so some family can go to a superbowl party). But for now, my copy of "julie and julia" waits...

Positivity

So one of my roommates had a fantastic idea:
she started a positivity experiment blog where she will blog for an entire year about things that make her smile, you can find it here:

http://thepositivityexperiment.blogspot.com/2010/02/positivity-experiment.html

I love the idea. Perfect.

So, inspired by Monica's thinking, here's a list of things that made me smile today:
new grey dress, scarves (lots of scarves), new cosmo, browsing in Barnes and Noble for at least an hour, reading the Dream Dictionary, starting to read Julie and Julia, watching the ending of "little women" with caity (who has never seen it), texting my friend beth about our incoming cat collection (ha), etc.

:)
whoops, got to get to sleep, singing at a church this morning!

Chicago.

Well after 7 hours on a MegaBus today...I'm home in NKY.
Top 5 moments in Chicago:
1. My mother and I went to a pub. HA.
2. I was hit on by several homeless men...greeeeaaat.
3. Every single college my sister auditioned for asked me if i was auditioning as well...apparently I look 17.
4. Being asked at every store I visited on Michigan Ave. "excuse me, ma'am do you work here?"
5. Watching my sister sing her butt off at each and every audition.

There will be more later, but for right now, I'm watching "julie and julia", talking to a friend on fb, and reading a magazine...so more later.
